A look back on the first 3 years of the Fighters Program: What have the startups become?

By Mathilde Gratiot, Startup Program Officer - Fighters Program

Three years ago, we celebrated STATION F and… the opening of STATION F’s Fighters Program, a one-year program dedicated to entrepreneurs from disadvantaged backgrounds!

Every year, we welcomed a new batch of 10 to 15 startups with entrepreneurs from exceptional backgrounds. For the upcoming batch, we are doubling the size of the program!

Now, you might be wondering what has happened to the first Fighters over the past three years? Here’s some news 🙂

Tally Fofana, Founder & CEO of DigiTall

Do you remember Tally? Tally was part of the first batch of the Fighters Program. He has since joined the Founders Program to continue building the second version of his anti-theft device, DigiTall.

As he described himself in 2018 in front of former French President François Hollande (that he met during his time in the Fighters Program), Tally is “a former car thief.” After spending two years in prison, he decided to develop the best anti-theft device for cars.

Since then, he has met with PSA, the biggest car manufacturer in France, to build a first audit mission. He also made his first salary in September 🙌

He has been meeting business angels and entrepreneurs at STATION F to raise funds, starting his fundraising with influential BAs in June and securing his first €100k. He expects to close €350k by December in order to finalize the V2 of his prototype and to recruit 2 extra engineers.

What’s next?

He’s in discussion with the biggest insurance companies in France to start the first test of the prototype in 2021 and then to start a Series A in January 2021.

Don’t hesitate to spread the word 😉

Brian Thiely, Founder and CEO of LinesDude

Brian has been making quite the buzz on different media lately.

Brian joined Batch 2 of the Fighters Program to build LinesDude. He is now still at STATION F in the Founders Program (as we aim to help our Fighters as long as possible).

When he first arrived at STATION F, he literally spent his whole life here: sleeping/eating/working on campus. He then joined Flatmates, the coliving space for our resident entrepreneurs, located 10 minutes away from STATION F by bike.

Brian is now known on the whole campus for his extraordinary resilience. He created LinesDude after spending a few months in the streets in order to help social reintegration of other homeless people. LinesDude is a platform that helps you to find someone to wait in lines for you.

After a few months in the Fighters Program, he recruited his first CTO that finally left him and took the fully developed application away with him.

But Brian didn’t give up!

He then decided to develop a simpler platform on Wix by himself and started to recruit his first ‘Dudes/Dudettes’ to start making money.

Brian has met exclusively with Xavier Niel, who helped him work on his business strategy.

What’s next

He’s now looking to raise funds: 200K for the end of the year, to help him recruit 2 people.

Khadija Salomon, co-founder and CEO of Le Falaf’

Khadija is part of the current batch of the Fighters Program

Khadija develops Le Falaf’, a brand of falafel & houmous exclusively made by refugees from all over the world. Her business has suffered a lot during the COVID crisis.

The Perks at STATION F (freebies and discounts exclusively negotiated for STATION F residents) helped her quickly automate her business and gain time to focus on strategy. She accredits her fellow entrepreneurs at STATION F for helping her gain time towards the end of the crisis.

She has now decided to specialize in the B2B market – as a CHR (café, hotel, restaurant) brand with a concept store.

She has developed a great revenue-generating activity with 200 events in less than a year (and without any advertisement costs) with 60 partners (Ville de Paris, L’Oréal, GRDF, Orange, Française de Jeux, Facebook, Blablacar, Elior-Arpège) 💪

For Le Falaf’, it’s only the beginning. Stay tuned for more news coming soon 😉
