Created in September 2020 by Etienne Variot and Samuel Collin, and part of STATION F’s Future 40 in 2021, Rize just announced a €3M raise with Mirova (on behalf of the L’Oréal Fund for Nature Regeneration), and the BBVA and Anthemis Partnership, with the support of BPI France.

Member of Ponts et Chaussées program after starting its journey at STATION F with Entrepreneur First, Rize is on a mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable agriculture thanks to climate data and climate finance. Rize enables farmers to understand their carbon footprint, to create an action plan and obtain funding on the voluntary carbon markets. The company provides services such as:

  • A digital platform for farmers to assess their carbon footprint and to create an action plan.

  • A leading farm carbon MRV system (Monitoring - Reporting - Verification)

  • A farm carbon payment program based on a robust certification framework, with verification mechanisms built on a double audit and remote sensing

“This investment will accelerate deployment of the Rize platform while reinforcing our R&D and product design capabilities, to bring to regenerative farmers the next generation of monitoring infrastructures and financing schemes. Collaboration will be essential to meet our sustainability objectives, as Rize brings together expertise from agriculture, science and finance”, says Etienne Variot, co-founder & CEO of Rize.

Rize will use its recent financing round to support the launch of a new carbon certification scheme specifically adapted to the needs of the agricultural sector. This new methodology has been developed to make carbon financing programs more accessible to farmers.
