“For many disabled women it is so hard to get dressed.” With this only sentence, Emma Butler explains the purpose of Intimately, a lingerie marketplace for women with disabilities. The idea of creating this brand had time to grow in her mind since she was 12, when her mother was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Later, she also met students with chronic illnesses and other disabilities while she was studying at Brown University.

“Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, sexy and included”

So Emma decided to do something and started conducting research for Intimately in 2018, before joining STATION F’s Founders Program in 2020. Now, Intimately is offering the “newest technologies for easy dressing with magnets and velcros” so that “anyone can get dressed”. “It’s such a difference from the traditional hook in the back”, Emma said.

Intimately promises to offer more practical, but also more fashionable clothes for women with disabilities: “We also don’t sacrifice fashion. We believe that everyone deserves to feel beautiful, sexy and included. Lingerie has a lot to do with your self-confidence, your sexuality, your desirability.”
